“Genius and virtue are to be more often found clothed in gray than in peacock bright.”

I always loved peacocks, but never thought I’m going to be one some day.
“Ego”, “jewelry”, “peacock”, “mask” – these were the words frosting on a sunny autumn morning as well as many other words while talking with master of words Ioana Baldea Constantinescu. Starting from her idea about a certain need today to show the ego like a peacock’s tail and run after superficiality, we decided to create together a creative project involving sound and image. An audio “jewelry” as Ioana called it about how we’re wearing today rather false values as shinny masks.

Ioana wrote a powerful text, recorded it with the help of her husband, Marius Constantinescu, signing some minutes of pure beauty. I simply loved her concept and as I found it very visual, proposed the styling part of it.
I thought immediately about dark, black, very conceptual clothing, no jewelry at all, to underline 3 different extravagant peacock inspired make-up and sculptural hairstyling to match the looks.
The three “peacock lady ” for this project were Ioana, Adina Dragomir (Ioana’s collegue) & I, and preparing it was fun and challenging, having a very tight deadline to keep. I would have loved to be able to realize a short video, but this is now on my bucket list.
With great help from friends such as photographer Raed Krishan, designer Lucian Broscatean, make-up artist Georgiana Ionita and hairstylist Raluca Mircea, “I wear my Ego on my face” was a complete audio-visual project presented at the romanian contemporary jewelry fair, Autor.

Thank you, Ioana, for the wonderful idea, it was a lovely experience!
